Macrocystis pyrifera
The abbreviated classification of this particular autotrophic protist goes as shown:
Kingdom:Chromalveolata → Phylum:Heterokontophyta → Class:Phaeophyceae → Order:Laminariales →
Family:Laminariaceae → Genus:Macrocystis → Species: pyrifera

This organism in particular is special to the protist kingdom; it is one of the only multicellular protist. Brown algae; giant kelp and sargassum, range from one to several meters long and can grow in masses similar to an underwater forest. This kelp grows faster than tropical bamboo too—about three to five inches each day in captivity and 10 to 12 inches in the typical bay environment. Under ideal conditions, giant kelp can grow an astonishing two feet each day.
